Step 2: Creating a report
Until now you just have a number: 84 issues fit the search criteria. The details of these issues, like the name of the companies, the date of the IPO and the SEDOL-code of the companies, can be requested by making a report.
Click under Open/Create on the tab Reports and click Create New.
You start with a blank report, you can add the items you want in the report. At the left side, starting with Company, you find the most common items. You can also type part of the name of the item behind Search Criteria. Double click the name to add the item to Selected Reporting Items.
TIP: Do you want to request stock prices of the companies found from Datastream? Or annual report data with the Excel add-in of Thomson? Then add the SEDOL- and ISIN-codes to the report. Type 'SEDOL' behind Search Criteria to select the SEDOL. You can find the ISIN-code by typing 'International' behind Search Criteria. |
TIP: In Thomson you can add several dates to the report, like Issue Date, Filing Date, etc. IPO date gives a very incomplete list of dates, so it's best to add the item 'Dates: Trading date' to your report - according to the definition this is the 'Date on which the security first trades'. In most cases this is the same date as the BaseDate in Datastream. |
When you have selected all items you want to add to your report, click Apply to Search and give the report a name. The report is added to the Search List. Again, hit the Execute button; the report is created. You can download the report to Excel by clicking the Excel button (when you have a lot of items in your report you'll have to scroll to the right to find the Excel button).
TIP: You can also save the report settings in ThomsonOne: click the button Save, next to the button Apply to Search. You can only save in the folder T1_T1IBEXP_XEU. There you have to create your own subfolder or save your report in an existing subfolder. (Please note: this is a different place on the server, it's not the folder where you can save searches). |
