Step 1: Set the criteria
With the first step in the Advanced Search option in the Equity module you determine which issues you want.
An example: you are looking for all IPOs between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2009 of Dutch companies. This IPOs have taken place.
You can use the Item List in the upper left corner to select these criteria: click the plusses before the categories and you get a list of all possibilities, for example: Company Info > Location > Issuer/Borrower Nation (Code). If you want to add an item to your selection, double click that item. The search screen for that specific item (in this case a list of countries) will appear.
If you can't find an item in the Item List, you can use Item Search, the tab on the right. There you search in the description of the items in the Equity module. When you open the list of definitions (there is a link Definition at each item), you can search through the complete descriptions (with CTRL + F).
When you have made the selection(s), click the button Execute, below the screen. The number of issues, fitting the search criteria, will appear. In Step 2: Creating a report will be explained how you request the details of the issues found, like the name of the companies and the dates of the IPOs.

Please note: After adding certain search criteria, for example Issue Type, this pop-up appears: When you choose Yes, also the issues where the requested information is not available are included, for example all issues where it's unknown if it was an IPO. The number of results will be larger, but in the output a lot of information will be missing. An example: when you are looking for IPOs in Western-Europe between 2000 and 2009 and you click No after adding the item Issue Type, you'll find 5188 results. When you choose Yes, 5358 issues are found, IPOs plus the issues where there is no information available for this criterium. So, it's best to choose No. |
TIP: you can save a search in ThomsonOne, so you can rerun or adjust it later. Click the button Save at the top of the Search List at the right side of the screen. You can save in the folder T1-T1IBEXP_XEU, where you have to create your own subfolder or save the search in an existing subfolder. |
