Step 2: Creating the report
Up till now your only output is a number: 107 deals are found according to your search criteria. To find details, like name, dates, SEDOL-codes you have to create your own report.
Click on the tab Reports to Open/Create one and next select Create New.
On the left side of the screen, starting with Date, you find the most common Items. You can also use the space after Search Criteria to enter a part of the name of the Item you are looking for. When found double click to enter the Item to your report.

TIP: If at a later stage you want to download stock prices from Datastream, just add the Datastream identifier to the report. Type next to Search criteria "Datastream" and double click on the found item. If at a later stage you also want to download annual report data with the Excel add-in from Thomson ONE Banker, just add the SEDOL-code to the report, by searching for "SEDOL" next to the Search criteria space. |
TIP: Some items can be difficult to find. For example, if you want to know if the deal was friendly or hostile, you have to add the item 'Deal attitude' to your report. To find these item names you can click the link Definition under any item: the complete list of items and definitions will open. You can use CTRL F to search through that list. |
When you have finished selecting all items for your report, click on the button "Apply to search" and give your report a name. Click on the button Execute once again; the report is being produced. You can export your report to Excel by clicking on the Excel button (when you have many items just scroll to the right to see the Excel button!)
TIP: You can also save the report settings in ThomsonOne: click the button Save, next to the button Apply to Search. You can only save in the folder T1_T1IBEXP_XEU. There you have to create your own subfolder or save your report in an existing subfolder. (Please note: this is a different place on the server, it's not the folder where you can save searches). |
