Step 1: Set the criteria

With the first step in the Advanced Search option in the M&A module you determine which deals you want.

An example: You need all deals between 1 Januari 2000 and 1 Januari 2006, from Dutch acquirors. Both the acquiror and the target should be public listed companies.

You can use the Item List in the upper left corner to select these criteria: click on the plusses before the categories and you will get a list of all possibilities, like Company Info > Location > Acquiror Nation. When you want to add an item to your selection just double click on that item. A search screen for that specific item (in this case a list of countries) will appear.

If you can't find a certain item in the Item list, you can use the right tab for an Item search. Now you search in the description of all different items in the Deals module.

When you are finished with your selection, click on the button Execute, below the screen. The number of deals according to your criteria will appear. In Step 2: Creating the report will be explained how to change that number into information about the deals.

TIP: you can save a search in ThomsonOne, so you can rerun or adjust it later. Click the button Save at the top of the Search List at the right side of the screen. You can save in the folder T1-T1IBEXP_XEU, where you have to create your own subfolder or save the search in an existing subfolder.

You can open the search later, by clicking the button Open at the top of the Search List at the right side of the screen and browse to the saved search.
