Lans Bovenberg, emeritus professor at Erasmus School of Economics, has received the Dutch Prize for Political Economics. He received the prize because of his large and broad contribution to economic policy knowledge and the many publications in Dutch but also in international professional literature. In 2003 he won the Spinoza Prize, the highest scientific award in the Netherlands.
On Friday 12 April, Lans Bovenberg received the prize from Klaas Knot, chairman of the board of Mr. N.G. Piersonfonds and President of De Nederlandsche Bank, and Robert Dur, chairman of the board of the Royal Association for Political Economy (KVS) and Professor of Economics at Erasmus School of Economics.
Bovenberg was briefly parttime Professor of Relational Economics, Values and Leadership at Erasmus School of Economics. He combined this position with his appointment as Professor of Economics at Tilburg University. Lans Bovenberg is also an alumnus of Erasmus School of Economics. He obtained his MSc in econometrics in 1981 after completing his thesis under the supervision of emeritus professor Teun Kloek.
