Can I edit Office documents on SkyDrive offline using my local Office product?
-
Yes, that’s possible. At this moment only Office 2010 and newer support direct opening and storing your files in SkyDrive.
Older versions of Office do not support this feature. In that case, it is always possible to download your documents from SkyDrive and edit them on your local computer. After you have edited the document on your local computer you can upload it back to SkyDrive again to always have the latest version available, everywhere!
Downloading your document is easy. After you have selected your document in SkyDrive, a short menu will appear at the right hand side of the screen. Select the option ‘Download’ to download the file to your local computer.
To upload your file back into SkyDrive, choose the option ‘Add file’ from the top menu. SkyDrive will ask if you want to override your existing file, or keep both.Category: Web Apps - Use of online Office Apps

How do I cooperate with other students in Office documents?
-
You can simultaneously work in documents that you shared with fellow students, or third parties (i.e. your lecturer). It is important to realise that changes only become visible for co-writers after you have saved them. Click the ‘save’ button regularly in order to receive updates of changes from your fellow authors.

Can I use all functionalities of Office Applications online?
-
No, but the most used Office functions Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote are now available in the online applications. This may not be sufficient in all cases. However, you can download files from your online Office Application, edit them in your own computer (with Microsoft Office) and upload them to your SkyDrive, at any time.
