Various - Ornaments... necessary folly
An exhibition by twelve ornamental artists can be seen at the EUR from 18 November until 22 December 2005. It is being held to mark the week of the ornament (2 to 12 December). During the opening of the exhibition on Thursday 8 December, EUR academics professor Ton Bevers and dr. Hans van de Braak will be giving their vision on the role and the function of the ornament.
The exhibition will include so-called authors’ ornaments. The word ‘author’ refers to a creative process, and an individual style and design. As well as a shape and material, authors’ ornaments have a story. Six ornamental artists from the ‘010 groep Rotterdam’ have all invited a colleague from the relevant field to take part in the exhibition. The initiative for the exhibition came from Charlotte Wooning, Lydia Bremer, Arianne van der Gaag, Machteld van Joolingen, Hester Zagt and Brigit Daamen.
Other artists who will be participating are Martine Viergever, Emile Estourgie, Evert Nijland, Monica Auch, Carla Nuis, and Lucy Sarneel.
