Entry requirements for international students
The entry standard required in the Netherlands is often higher than that covered by the school-leaving certificate(s) in some other countries. On the basis of your application,
the Admissions Officer will inform you whether you need supplementary study/exams.
Many foreign secondary school diplomas do not meet all the subject requirements and therefore, additional English and/or Mathematics will be part of the entrance examinations (as well as Dutch for programmes taught in Dutch).
The list below shows you which subjects are required for the various degree courses at Erasmus University.

* For admission to the field of Medicine and the Faculty of Law you should expect to have to follow a minimum of two years of preparatory classes: one year to learn Dutch plus a second year for additional Dutch (for Law) or for chemistry and physics, biology and mathematics (for Medicine).
Note that a second preparatory year is NOT possible if you hold a temporary residence permit (VTV) for the Netherlands.
Even then admission is uncertain. For the degree programmes in Criminology, Laws, Fiscal Law, Medicine and Psychology limited study places are available. A quota (a lottery and/or selection) decides if one is eligible for a study place. In order to register for the lottery, a statement is required from the Admissions Officer.
Admission to the above mentioned programmes is possible only after one has been allocated a study place by either DUO (formerly known as IB-Groep) or the faculty/programme management.
For the programmes International Bachelor Communication and Media and Liberal Arts and Sciences there are limited places available. The programme management selects students and/or a lottery decides if one is eligible for a study place.
