Application procedures Bachelor programmes

Students who want to apply for a Bachelor programme need to follow a number of steps. The following schedule explains in detail what these steps are.

For students who want to apply for a Bachelor study programme **.

When

Steps to be taken

Requirements

As soon as possible, but no later than 15 May

Go to Studielink and register for the bachelor programme of your choice and contact  Admissions Office.

Sufficient result for TOEFL (ibt) or IELTS is compulsory. For exemptions and/or further information, please contact  Admissions Office.

Within ten working days

Submit the requested documents to the Admissions Office.

After the Admissions Office has received your application documents.

Admissions Office handles the application and replies within ten working days of receipt of your application.
• If your secondary or university education is sufficient, you will receive a letter with further instructions and information on the procedure to follow.
• If your secondary education is not sufficient, you will receive a letter of non-acceptance.

Between January and June*

Apply for a visa for study (Machtiging voor Voorlopig Verblijf; MVV) by requesting that Admissions Office do so, on your behalf using the accelerated visa procedure (this may take up to six weeks).

Between February and July*

Follow up on the admission procedure:
• register for entrance exams
• submit diploma

After arrival in the Netherlands and before starting your programme*

Within three days of arrival, visit the Erasmus Student Service Centre (ESSC)
• collect/submit documents for requesting a temporary residence permit (VTV).
• (for Preparatory Year students) attend all preparatory courses and thereafter pass the Dutch language exam (and other entrance exams*). Only then are you eligible to register as a student of Erasmus University.

** For International Bachelor Econometrics and Operations Research, International Bachelor Economics and Business Economics and International Business Administration, please contact the faculty of your choice.

Registration with Studielink (DUO)

Students wishing to study at Erasmus University also have to register with Studielink/Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO). Studielink is an online application tool for higher education in the Netherlands while DUO (formerly known as IB-Groep) allocates places of lottery studies and study funding to (Dutch) students.

You must register with Studielink/DUO in the year in which you wish to enrol as a full-time student of Erasmus University. If you are applying for a study programme regulated by a lottery and selection, you need to register before the 15th of May at Studielink. You don’t need to register with Studielink/DUO when applying for the Preparatory Year.
