Vestia Rotterdam Stadswonen

Vestia Rotterdam Stadswonen (VRS) is a local non-profit housing corporation that offers furnished accommodation to international students. Especially for international students of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), 497 rooms are reserved. The department that handles international student housing is called Short Stay.

Type of accommodation

The offer of the housing corporation consists private rooms with shared facilities who are all located in Rotterdam, in view of travelling time to the city centre or EUR, or further away. The rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair, seat, side table, warderobes and lighting. The kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, cooking ring and cooker hood. The bathrooms have a shower, sink and toilet. Cooking utensils and cleaning material are present in all accommodations, including internet.
You can purchase bed linen (duvet, pillow, sheet …) at the housing corporation or bring your own.

Rental prices

Private rooms with shared facilities: € 420 until € 637
Rental fees include:

  • inventory
  • internet
  • utilities, such as water, gas, electricity
  • residential services
  • local taxes, such as rubbish collection, water supply, sewerage

Contract terms

The accommodation can be rented for the duration of your study, with fixed limited period and for a maximum of 12 months:

  • exchange students can rent a room for the duration of the exchangeprogramme, in general maximum 6 months
  • fulltime students (bachelor- & masters) can rent a room for the duration of their programme, from 10 until 12 months

If you reserve a room:

  • you have to sign the digital contract before you arrive in Rotterdam and send it back to the housing corporation
  • students with a contract of maximum 6 months, have to pay the first month rent with a deposit of one month rent
  • fulltime students have to pay the first month rent with a deposit of two months rent

If you fail to show or cancel your reservation (less than one month before the startdate of your contract), the first month rent is non-refundable.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation of the rental contract is not permitted.

Early cancellation of your rent agreement is only permitted when you cancel or finish your study programm. A request for early cancellation has to be given within one month notice, together with a copy of your deregistration at EUR.
If you fulfilled these conditions, your contact person can approve your request.
