Renewed Woudestein within reach

In 2011, a firm foundation for the new campus has been established: around 1,000 piles have been driven, tens of miles worth of cables and pipes rerouted and tonnes of soil excavated.  This year will see the Student Pavilion, U-building and car park actually being built, the restoration of C completed over the summer, and – in true Rotterdam spirit – the campus grounds actively being taken in hand. Footprint Woudestein decreasing

Erasmus University RotterdamWhen plans were made for a renewed Woudestein campus, different ways of conserving energy were taken into account, as well as methods for reducing carbon emissions and improving the environmentally friendliness of buildings. As of September 2011, there’s even a fulltime energy coordinator working at Erasmus Facility Services.  Read more>>

Temporary stairs to H terrace 

The look of Institutenlaan is to change quite a bit over the next few months. This lane, running from building H to building L, is about to be redesigned in preparation to its connection to the future Plaza. To enable a seamless connection, Institutenlaan’s surface will be raised – starting from the pond adjoining the University Library. Read more>>

Construction pit car park: drainage for dry feet

By now, the ‘car park under construction’ is taking on shape. Over the past weeks, related activities have extended to outside campus. Alongside Burgemeester Oudlaan black pipelines can be spotted, as well as a construction of pipe lines which gives entrance to Collegelaan. What purpose do these pipelines serve, and what have they got to do with the car park?

The Erasmus tree shack

After the start of the construction works on Woudestein campus early 2011, a considerable number of trees on Woudestein had to be replanted or felled. It was then that students from GreenEUR and the Treehouse Foundation came up with a plan to put some of the felled trees to good use and create a tree shack. Read more>>

New offices in HT for library staff

This September, the academic year 2012 - 2013 will commence with the reopening of a smartly restored C-building. Among the new inhabitants of C’s ground floor will be the department of Mail & Logistics – which can now still be found on the ground floor of the H-building (HT). The cleaning and maintenance teams of Erasmus University will also move from HT to the C-building. What are the plans for HT? Read more>>
