Sustainability: technology matters

In its present campus renewal, EUR is actively working towards a more  sustainable and environmental friendly Woudestein. This is demonstrated by the various low-energy techniques that will be applied, both for individual buildings and campus-wide. Some examples are the CO²-controlled ventilation and hot/cold storage employed for the Student Pavilion, and in building C, the green roof and solar panels. Read more>> |
Grin and bear it for the Student Pavilion

Mid May will finally see the 1st stone being laid for the Student Pavilion.  The pavilion will become the place to meet and an important architectural eye-catcher in the heart of the campus. In about a year’s time, the new campus heart will be a fact. Until then, we will occasionally have to grit our teeth: building unavoidably involves a certain measure of nuisance. Read more>> |
New life on campus Woudestein

After over a year’s worth of building activities on Woudestein, it seems almost normal to be strolling past sandy plains and building pits when walking across campus. But in about a year from now, the campus will have undergone a transformation and will be green once more. Marjolein Geerards and Ellen Schoen, project leaders Public Space, can tell us all about it. Building C: not much longer now !
|
After its restoration, the C-building will not only have an interior that is  colourful, original and modern, it will also meet the legal norms for energy consumption in new constructions. No small feat for a monument! The restoration team have made use of BIM, an innovative building model. And the ultramodern AV facilities in the lecture rooms make C an audiovisual showpiece for EUR. Executive expedition in C

Though the floors are still covered in thick layers of dust, the heavy work  is now finished. Builders are busily furnishing the building’s shell by putting in ceilings, windows and (lots and lots) of black and white tiles in the toilets. In short: building C is starting to look halfway decent again. EUR’s Executive Board went to take a look. Read more>> |
