Decisions Masterplan | |
On 7 October, a ringing ‘yes’ sounded from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam’s Executive Board to phase 1 of the Masterplan. This means a ‘yes’ to projects such as the Student Pavilion, the semi-underground car park, the Erasmus Plaza above the car park, and green space. |

Architects' pitch Student Pavilion | |
By 2013, Erasmus University Rotterdam aims to have realized a Student Pavilion that is to become the figurehead of Woudestein campus. For the design of this architectural eyecatcher, 37 architects’ firms have sent in a proposal for design via European tender. Read more>> | |
'A shiny new Etude' | |
After nearly twelve weeks, the Etude reopened its doors again on 6 September. Apart from noise nuisance, dust and a packed Carrousel, the refurbishment resulted in a bright new Etude. Project manager Cihan Daskapan summed up the process succinctly but meaningfully: ‘high ambitions, snappy project planning, great cooperation’. Read more>> | |

Trees: planting and felling | |
2013, Erasmus University’s Centenary year, is drawing near. Preparations for the promising campus developments have begun. The new semi-underground car park and water feature are quite considerable building projects. Differences in level on campus will also be adjusted. Because of this, and because of building logistics, it is necessary to fell a large number of trees. The felling permit was applied for in September. Read more>> | |

Thanks to the Masterplan, Woudestein’s campus will be transformed into an effervescent world campus over the next few years. The developments will be noticeable in everybody’s working environment. Alterations to art route | |
Erasmus University Rotterdam does not only concern itself with academic matters. Plastic arts are important to the university, with which it emphasizes its image. For the approximately fifty statues on campus, Woudestein has even developed its own art route. Because of Woudestein’s approaching housing developments, eight of these outdoor artworks will be (temporarily) relocated or stored. Read more>> | |
Temporary housing lecture halls and shops | |
Restoration of the C-building, part of a municipal monument, will commence in 2011. Preparations for the restoration have begun with digging works in Institutenlaan. The sequel will be noticeable from early December onwards, when parking lot P1 will be partly occupied by temporary housing for retail and lecture rooms. Read more>> | |
New working environment for ICT | |
In September, the facelift of the first two floors of the H-building got underway. This will result in a pleasant, modern working environment for SSC ICT. Read more>> | |
Mail & Logistics in CT-186 until spring 2011 | |
The department Post & Logistiek (Mail & Logistics) relocated to CT-186 around the end of August. The reason for the move was the refurbishment of the Etude. The department will stay here until spring 2011. Read more>> | |
