Erasmus Pride is an initiative of Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Erasmus MC and it is intended for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees and students from both institutes. Erasmus Pride was inspired by the Company Pride Platform and has partially adopted its vision and objectives.
To have lesbian, homosexual, bisexual and transgender individuals perceived as visible human beings and be accepted and appreciated within the work & study environment and within society at large.
Erasmus Pride focuses on connecting, representing and empowering the LGBT community, whose members work or study at the Erasmus University and/or at the Erasmus MC.
Erasmus Pride is first of all a network that offers a meeting point. Erasmus Pride strives for a safe and pleasant environment for all employees and students, regardless of their personal inclinations.
Erasmus Pride wants to enhance the visibility of the LGBT community within the Erasmus University and the Erasmus Medical Centre. With this approach it encourages these academic bodies to achieve diversity within the university community.
By offering an LGBT network, Erasmus Pride wants to promote the emancipation of this group within the Erasmus University and the Erasmus MC. In addition, Erasmus Pride wants to fulfil a monitoring function with regard to specific LGBT topics, and whenever necessary, to provide advice in these areas.
To achieve the aforementioned objectives, Erasmus Pride organises various activities on an educational, societal and social level.
