(2009-01-20) Upgrade IPT telephony system
On monday, february 9, after 18.00 hour SSC ICT will install new software for the Cisco IP telephony platform. This enables the addition of new features in the near future (like personal phonebooks, user selfservice to set call forwarding for busy or no answer). The new system also allows the use of more and new types of IP phones. Information about new features for phone users is expected to be provided in march and april this year.
Basically, the installation of the new software will have no impact on the use and available features of current phones. Most users will not notice any differences at first. However, there are some exceptions. This is because in some cases the keys at the bottom of the phonedisplay (so called "soft keys") will be arranged somewhat differently. After the migration one might find some of the keys have switched places. The advice is to carefully look at the textlabels above the keys.
Installation of the new software is planned during the maintenance windows on monday february 2 after 18.00 hrs (test phase) and monday february 9 after 18.00 hours (actual migration). During these periods it will not be possible to use your IP-phone. As of february 10 your phone will be operating in the new system.
