Apple: update to iOS 6.1.2!

Apple has released a software update to fix the bug between iPhones and iPads (iOS 6.1) and MS Exchange servers. We advise you to either update to iOS 6.1.2 or keep using iOS 6.0.

Check your computer on the presence of a keylogger on a regular base

A keylogger is a program or hardware in which keystrokes can be logged. A program which is used as a keylogger can, in some cases, be detected by antivirus software. Keylogger hardware is difficult to distinguish, it is usually placed in between the cable of the keyboard and the connection on the computer as can be seen in the image below.

First name in MS Exchange

Recently it has become possible to add your first name to the display name in MS Exchange. This can be done via personal.idm.eur.nl The result of this new feature will be that some employees in the Global Address List are displayd by first name and some employees with initials only.

Wireless network ‘eduroam-guest’ no longer available as from 2 September 2012

From Sunday, September 2, the wireless network (SSID) 'eduroam-guest' is no longer available. Instead, students, staff and guests (with a valid 'guest account') can access the (SSID) EURnet portal.

EUR students who log into their 24EUR7 account are required to have secondary authentication (email address, phone or trusted PC) before they can proceed.

E-mail and storage problems resolved.

In recent weeks there have been problems with the E-mail and calendar. These expressed themself mainly in a slow or unresponsive Outlook or webmail.

The problem turns out to have had two causes. As previously reported, the equipment for the storage of e-mails and calendar data had issues with the simultaneous delivery of large amounts of data.

Exchange migration completed.

With the implementation of MS Exchange at RSM, all departments of the EUR are now using the new service for email and calendaring. The new features of MS Exchange̵ - in combination with MS Outlook - have opened up many new possibilities, but as always there are several issues that remain open.

Microsoft SkyDrive storage space is limited, look how you can still keep your 25GB free storage

With the introduction of the Microsoft cloud service - the service of the Erasmus University Rotterdam named 24EUR7 – students were offered 25GB storage in SkyDrive. However, recently Microsoft has indicated that this storage will be reduced to 7GB.

Student Volgende Storage will cease to exist as from 11 May 2012!

On Saturday 25 February 2012, all students of the Erasmus University Rotterdam switched over to the 24EUR7 cloud service. Documents stored on the Student Volgende Storage (SVS, Student Following Storage) were not included in the migration. The students will have to move these documents to their 24EUR7 accounts themselves. Students have an improved storage space through 24EUR7. On 11 May 2012, the SVS will be discontinued. As a result, any documents remaining on SVS will have to be transferred to 24EUR7 before this date.
