Special facilities for students with a functional limitation

Do you have a declaration relating to a functional limitation and would you like to take your interim exams in a smaller room?

Within reasonable limits, students with temporary or structural types of functional limitation may make use of special facilities for the duration of the limitations. These facilities, which include modification of the interim-examination facilities, are designed to provide equal opportunities for successful studies. Until now, with permission from the examining board, students with temporary or structural types of functional limitation were given an extra half hour to complete their interim exams. But they did so in the same room as the other students. This meant that they were bothered by the coming and going of other students at beginning or finish of their interim exams. Starting with the 2005-2006 academic year, most students with functional limitations may take their interim exams in room M1-5. That is a small classroom on the first floor of M-building.

How do I obtain permission to sit interim exams in this classroom?

To start with, to be able to take written interim exams in room M1-5, you must submit an application to the examining board (NB if your are enrolled at two faculties, you need to file the request with both Examinations Boards). That also applies to students who already have permission for extensions of interim exams. The examining board will determine whether, based on your functional limitation, you are eligible to take written interim exams in room M1-5 and for which period.

What must you do to register for written interim exams once you have an interim-exam declaration to take them in room M1-5?

During the period for which you have permission to take interim exams in room M1-5, you should make known by e-mail within the registration period of the written interim exams which exams you wish to take. The e-mail address for this is ea@remove-this.oos.eur.nl. You should mention the names of the subjects, the dates and times. Moreover, you should register in the usual way (via Osiris online) for these written exams within the same registration period. Only then will the results be registered. Once you have done this, we will make sure that the interim exams are administered in the room on the dates given, and that there is an invigilator present.

Where is M1-5 and what time do interim exams begin there?

M1-5 is a classroom on the first floor of M-building (east wing). The name of the room is Hull. A maximum of 20 students can take exams simultaneously. The rules of order are identical to the rules that apply in M hall. Students in M1-5 start their exams a half hour earlier than the other participants (i.e. at 9.00, 13.00 and 18.00 hours, respectively). The finishing time is the same for all participants. The rules of order are also identical. During the first hour it should be possible to ask the lecturer substantive questions.

What can you take with you?

Besides the usual materials, including valid proof of identity (see: article 4 in procedure,) you must also take along the declaration from the examining board and show it to the invigilator.

Is it still possible to use the main exam hall for your interim exams?

Is it your own choice to use the main exam hall and not m1-5 for an interim exam. A disadvantage is that you loose the right of 30 extra minutes in the main exam hall. Therefore we advise to you M1-5 with an declaration for M1-5.
