Eliminating Deficiencies in Mathematics

What is Deficiencies in Mathematics?

Proof of mathematical knowledge is required for most programmes at the university. For some programmes, this refers to mathematics level 1 at pre-university level; for others, mathematics level 2 or mathematics level 3. Information about this can be found in the bachelor programmes and on the web pages of the various programmes. Domestic and international students must show proof of knowledge required for the programmes they wish to take, by means of diplomas or certificates. If that is not possible, they will be considered to have a deficiency in mathematics.

Application form

There are several ways to eliminate deficiencies in mathematics. Here, too, you can find information in the brochures and on the web pages of the programmes. One possibility is to take a deficiency test offered by the university. You pay a test fee of € 70,00 (administration-fee) by means of a one-off direct-debit authorisation. You can download the application form.

When do the tests take place?

The mathematics deficiency test is administered twice a year (May 21 and July, 23) for mathematics level 1, mathematics level 2 and mathematics level 3. A passing mark is required to eliminate the deficiency in mathematics.
