Participatory decision-making of central services - Joint Committee

A joint committee has been set up for the University Office and for the University Library. The joint committees enable staff employed in the University Office and the University Library respectively to have a say regarding the application of conditions of employment, general staff policy, working conditions, the organisation and its methods, and the technical and economic execution of services within the said parts of the organisation. In this context, the joint committee is the focal point for staff.
The joint committee periodically consults with the head of the service department, who is required to involve the joint committee in decision-making on the above matters.
The head of the service department grants the joint committee timely opportunity to consult with him and to issue an opinion on the proposed measures.
The head of the service department requires the prior assent of the joint committee for every measure he is authorised to take and on which the joint committee has issued an opinion.
The head of the service department further requires the prior assent of the joint committee in relation to the content of a reorganisation proposal in the event of a reorganisation within central services, in compliance with the EUR reorganisation code.
The members of the joint committees are elected every three years by staff employed in the University Office and the University Library respectively.
