Cover
The cover of print publications such as brochures, invitations and posters has a preset layout (design). The most important elements are:
- Horizontal title bar
- Left-hand column & motto
- Erasmus image
- Image material
Title bar
You may choose from two locations for the horizontal title bar: high or low. In the title bar you place the title of your publication or your event and any additional subtitle. A title text has a fixed starting point (see designs) and is in the Frutiger Bold font. In principle the body size is free. You also use Frutiger for subtitles, but in smaller letters than the title.
Left-hand column
The left-hand column contains the name of the sender of the printed matter. This could be Erasmus University Rotterdam or the name of the relevant faculty. The column width varies depending on the printed matter format.
Optionally the left-hand column may also contain the (Dutch) motto of Erasmus University Rotterdam: ‘Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. De universiteit voor denkers en doeners’.
In international communication this would be:
‘Erasmus University Rotterdam. Main Port of Knowledge.’
Erasmus image
The Erasmus head is displayed left of the title bar.
See further under Image of Erasmus.
Image material
There is free choice in the selection of an image. You may opt for a photo, a drawing, an abstract image or text. However remember that good image material is a major determinant in the quality of your final product. You may obtain image material from the EUR Image Bank.
