English level test (entry/exit test) for employees
For (university) teachers
All lecturers who need to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (BKO) for English must take part in a language level test before and after taking a language course. This level test is intended to determine your level of English and to find out which course you need to take.
For other staff members
A language level test is also the first step for non-teaching staff who would like to take an English course. Only after determining the current level of English can a course participant register for a language course.
What does the test consist of?
An English language level test consists of two parts: a Quick Placement Test (QPT) and an oral test. The QPT is done on a computer and takes approximately 20 minutes. The oral test is a 15-minute interview with one of our English native-speaking language trainers. Based on the results of the QPT and the interview, your level of English is expressed as a level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Enrolment
The Language & Training Centre (LTC) offers language level tests for EUR employees in February, June and September every year. Please remember to make a reservation in the timetables for the Quick Placement Test and the oral test. In addition, complete a registration (and payment) form for the English language level test and send it in. Once you have registered and paid, you will receive an e-mail from us about one week prior to the language level test informing you of where the tests will take place.
Next test dates:
- Quick Placement Test: Monday 25 June 2012
- Oral Test to determine your level in week 26 (25-29 June 2012)
Costs
The fee for a language level test (QPT + oral test) is €50 per participant.
Once you have taken the language level test (both the written and the oral part), you may register for a group course (or an individual training programme).
