Dr Jaya Arunachalam

Ms. Jaya Arunachalam is the president of the Working Women’s Forum (WWF) in India, founded by her in 1978 to develop the human resource potential of poor women workers. As of now, over 800,000 entrepreneuring women participate in this grassroots independent network sharing support in various ways: from housing rights and health care to education and microcredits and savings. The WWF aims at "participation, self-reliance and sustainability" and is seen by many of its members as a unique path to economic, social and political empowerment.

Jaya is a pioneer in building institutions for the poor, a role model to the emancipation of poor women. WWF receives (financial) support from all over the world, including Rabobank Foundation.
