The psychology of business

As more and more business leaders question the way business should be done in the light of recent turbulent financial events, a new academic appointment at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) brings expertise in the psychology of decision makers. Professor James Hunton has been appointed professor of experimental accounting and research into aspects of governance and control in the Department Accounting and Control at RSM. His appointment reinforces the researching talent within the department and could lead to the development of new ways for businesses to work their way through the financial crisis.
Sir Clive W.J. Granger passed away (1934-2009)

It is with great sadness that the Erasmus University of Rotterdam informs all of you that Sir Clive Granger, holder of the Henri Theil Chair at the Erasmus School of Economics, passed away. Granger, winner of Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, 2003, also was honored Honorary Doctor at the Erasmus University in 2006.

Master Chinese Economy & Business to acquire prestigious internship places

The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Beijing is offering four internships to students of the new master programme in Chinese Economy & Business. The AHK is one of the first official business partners for this new MSc. The programme will start in September 2009 and take one year to complete. It will be offered by the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and the Chinese Department of Leiden University.
Corporate communication in times of crisis

The current financial crisis has severely damaged reputations of corporations and individuals. Monetary fortunes have been lost, increasing numbers of people have been laid off. What can be done to mitigate reputation damage? What lessons can be learned from academic research? What are the visions of representatives of leading global firms on how to maintain a sound reputation? To answer these questions, the Reputation Institute, in cooperation with the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, organizes a large conference on the topics of corporate communication, brand, identity and competitiveness, to be held in Amsterdam from May 28 to May 30, 2009.
June 8th: Rotterdam World Ocean Day 2009

A growing world population, the climate change and inflexible fisheries policy threaten our oceans. On World Ocean Day on June 8th all over the world people will get together to devote their attention to the largest body of water on our planet. The Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Technical University Delft organize a public event to discuss about this problem and to make an appeal for action against the disappearing underwater life.
