NWO grant for large-scale research into media tourism
Media academic Stijn Reijnders has been granted a subsidy by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (the NWO) for the project Locating Imagination. An Interdisciplinary Perspective on Literary, Film and Music Tourism. This subsidy, of EUR 750,000, will enable Reijnders to undertake a five-year research project into media tourism.
China's boom caused financial crisis

Today's financial crisis was caused by the rise of China. The saving frenzy of the Chinese led to an excess of cheap money. And that fuelled the US housing market bubble. Its collapse ushered in the financial crisis. So says Heleen Mees in her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Changing Fortunes – How China’s Boom Caused the Financial Crisis’. She will be awarded her doctorate on Tuesday 28 August 2012 at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Erasmus University nominated as Best Employer

Erasmus University Rotterdam is nominated for Best Employer Award 2012. This election is organised annually in the Netherlands by VNU Media and research agency Effectory. It is the first time that Erasmus University competes for this title.
Organization Universities Games handed over to Rotterdam

The organization of the European Universities Games has been officially handed over to Rotterdam. That happened during the closing ceremony in Córdoba, where the first edition of the biggest European sporting event for students took place. The Games have led to much enthusiasm for the second edition in 2014 in Rotterdam.
