Erasmus University (EUR) scores high again in international ranking

The Times Higher Education Supplement has again published a worldwide ranking of universities this time in the domain of the social sciences. Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) is in 20th place. The top 100 are headed by Harvard University. The only other Dutch university on the list is Maastricht (77th place). Among the European universities three British institutions (London School of Economics, Oxford and Cambridge) score higher than Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The social sciences also include economics and management sciences. The ranking is based on the opinion of 1300 academics who indicated which university in their opinion is the best in the social sciences discipline. The survey also looked at the number of references to academic articles.

The first World University Ranking was published in The Times Higher Education Supplement in November 2004. On the basis of an analysis of quoted articles, number of publications, the opinion of fellow academics and international orientation EUR came out as the top university in the Netherlands: 20th in Europe and 64th in the world. Erasmus University Rotterdam is again on the world academic map as the first Dutch university.
