Multiple programmes and tuition fees

As a result of a change to the law  by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) a subsidy may be awarded to each EU/EER, Swiss or Surinamese student for one Bachelor's degree programme and one Master’s degree programme only. As a result of this measure, it is no longer legally possible to pay only the statutory tuition fee for a second Bachelor's degree programme started after already being awarded a Bachelor's degree in the Netherlands. This principle also applies for Master’s degree programmes: if you already have a Master’s degree, it is not possible to take a second Master’s degree programme and pay only the statutory tuition fee.

The Ministry makes an exception for students who opt for a second programme of study in the CROHO (Central Register of Higher Education Study Programmes) Healthcare or Education sectors. It is possible to take a second programme of study in one of these categories and pay only the statutory tuition fee providing that the first programme of study was not in one of these categories. You can consult the CROHO register at apps.ib-groep.nl/MCROHO/pages/zoeken.jsf (only in Dutch).
