Dr. W.H. Posthumus-van der Goot grant

Erasmus University Rotterdam is proud of the many talented women who are a part of our university community. In order to encourage outstanding women doctoral candidates, the Executive Board instituted the Dr W.H. Posthumus-van der Goot grant in 2008, to be awarded per faculty every two years. This grant, consisting of a €3,500 prize and a certificate, goes to a talented, promising (female) doctorate student nominated by the dean. The grant is a part of the EUR’s diversity programme.

The Dr W.H. Posthumus-van der Goot grant was named after the first woman to receive her doctorate from the Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool (the Netherlands School of Commerce, the oldest legal predecessor of the EUR). Miss Willemijn van der Goot received her doctorate in 1930 for her dissertation De besteding van het inkomen (The expenditure of income).
