Rankings
Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) seeks to achieve academic excellence. Rankings indicate how a university performs in comparison to other universities. Diverse ranks exist worldwide each using its own methods and weighting factors.
Roughly speaking rankings can be subdivided into research rankings, which primarily look at academic output in terms of numbers of publications and citations, and educational rankings. The latter ranks individual programmes with each ranking adopting its own methods. As a result Erasmus University’s score is not always the same.
The main research-related rankings for the EUR are the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS, Leiden Ranking), the Taiwan Ranking, Times Higher Education, QS Ranking, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and the Scimago Institutions Ranking (SIR).
The study programme rankings are oriented towards the Netherlands: Elsevier (Beste Studies) and the Keuzegids published by the Centrum Hoger Onderwijs Informatie (CHOI).
