Employment Conditions Selection Model

The Employment Conditions Selection Model (ECSM) is an advantageous exchange system. By exchanging certain employment conditions according to your wishes or requirements you can put together your own personal package of employment conditions. An additional advantage is that by exchanging certain employment conditions you pay less tax.

How does it work?

Your exchange basis always consists of time and/or money, which are referred to as sources. These sources can be exchanged for eight different targets. The table below shows a complete overview.

Sources

Targets

Time: leave days (maximum 10 days)
Money: holiday allowance or end-of-year bonus

Additional commuting allowance
Additional pension
Additional income
Bicycle
Long-term Saving Model
Trade union contribution
Investment in the Life-course Savings Scheme
Additional leave days (maximum 10)

In most cases the exchange provides you with a tax break. For example, you exchange the gross value of your leave for a net reimbursement in your commuting allowance.
Since the gross amount is converted to a net reimbursement you pay no taxes over the gross value of the source.

You are permitted to exchange throughout the year as long as you have adequate sources for financing your targets.

A number of choices carry fiscal consequences or they may affect the level of any potential unemployment or disability benefits. Utilising the money sources does not affect your pension accrual.
For extensive information and the exact conditions, click on the target in the table above.

You are always personally responsible for the choices you make. The EUR cannot be held liable for any disadvantages that occur as a result of your choice.

Student assistants and students on work placement cannot participate in the Employment Conditions Selection Model.

Procedure

You make your choice by filling in an application form. Click here for the various forms. The form has an explanation about which documents you need to add to your application and/or declaration. The completed form, if necessary signed by your manager, is submitted to your HR department.
