January 10, 2012: We want to draw your attention to the website www.ComPuTr.eu, that has been launched recently. On the website, you find information on the NWO project "Complexity in Public Transport", in which Evelien van der Hurk and Paul Bouman are involved.

November 11, 2011: Paul Bouman is a new member of ECOPT!
October 28, 2011: Several new papers have been published. You can find a list of publications of members of the center in the publications section.
February 15, 2011: Ilse Louwerse is a new ECOPT member!
February 11, 2011: Lars Kjær Nielsen defended his Ph.D.-thesis on Rolling Stock Rescheduling in Passenger Railways. Articles about his research appeared in popular newspapers as the Algemeen Dagblad and Spits. It was also a headline on Nu.nl.

November 15, 2010: Twan Dollevoet and Marie Schmidt won the Student Paper Contest on Management Science in Railraod Applications with their paper "Delay Management with Re-Routing of Passengers". Co-authors of the paper are Dennis Huisman and Anita Schöbel. The contest was sponsored by the Railway Application Section of INFORMS. Twan presented the paper at the annual INFORMS meeting in Austin (Texas) on November 7th. Later that day, the award was presented to Twan by Michael Gorman.

October 21, 2010: Daniel Potthoff defended his Ph.D.-thesis on "Railway Crew Rescheduling". The printed media discussed Daniel's work extensively, and the radio station BNR broadcasted an interview with Daniel.

August 8, 2010: On October 22, ECOPT organizes the workshop "Decision Support for Real-Time Public Transport Operations". Click here to see the announcement of this workshop.

September 9, 2009: Luuk Veelenturf is a new member of ECOPT.
July 8, 2009: Gábor Maróti and Lars Kjær Nielsen were awarded the EURO Management Science Strategic Innovation Prize 2009 for their paper “Disruption Management of Rolling Stock in Passenger Railway Transportation”. The prize was presented at the EURO conference in Bonn.
April 3, 2009: a joint opinion article (in Dutch) of Dennis Huisman and Daniel Potthoff has been published on EconomieOpinie.nl. The title is "NS kan steeds sneller reageren op verstoringen".

February 19, 2008: a joint opinion article (in Dutch) of Dennis Huisman and Leo Kroon has been published on EconomieOpinie.nl. The title is "Hoe uw treinreis beter is geworden en nog beter kan".
February 8, 2008: Three ECOPT members (Leo Kroon, Dennis Huisman and Gábor Maróti) in final of the 2008 Franz Edelman Award!
On February 7, INFORMS has announced that Netherlands Railways is one of the six finalists for the 2008 Franz Edelman Award. The winner will be announced after the presentation of the finalists in Baltimore on April 14, 2008. Netherlands Railways is nominated for the work entitled "The New Dutch Timetable: The OR Revolution". The three ECOPT members above, together with 6 others (Erwin Abbink, Pieter-Jan Fioole, Matteo Fischetti, Lex Schrijver, Adri Steenbeek and Roelof Ybema), have co-authored the paper describing the application of Operations Research methods to develop the new 2007 timetable and its related resource schedules.
