Exemptions

If you think you have already obtained a course or other part of your degree programme on a comparative level, you can request the Examination Board for an exemption from this course or part of your degree programme. Common requests are exemptions from one or more courses or from the elective space.

In some cases, a standard exemption applies. Read more about standard exemptions on this page.

It is not possible to obtain an exemption for the following courses or part of the programme:

  • Bachelor-1 courses (for more information you can contact the study adviser)
  • Bachelor seminar
  • Bachelor thesis
  • Master seminar
  • Master thesis

Handing in your request

The Department of Examination Administration deals with requests for exemptions and interim last examinations on behalf of the Examination Board. You must therefore submit your form ‘Request to the Examination Board’ to the Department of Examination Administration and not to the Examination Board, when you are requesting an exemption.

The Department of Examination Administration will process complete and clear requests only. Incomplete and unclear request will not be processed and will be returned to the student. Also requests handed in via e-mail will not be taken into consideration. If your request is taken into consideration you will not receive a written receipt. You will receive the decision of the Department of Examination Administration, on behalf of the Examination Board, by regular mail within six weeks.
