Entrepreneurship and Strategy Economics
Introduction
Entrepreneurship and strategy are at the heart of modern economies characterized by flexibility, turbulence, diversity, and innovation. Thorough strategic decisions of firms are decisive for survival and growth, and entrepreneurship plays an essential role as an agent of change, generator of new jobs, and engine of prosperity. Both entrepreneurship and strategy have many facets which are complex and challenging to identify, measure, and influence. Also, the way entrepreneurial behavior and strategic decision-making influence the environment in terms of value creation and recovery from recessions are highly relevant for individuals, firms, industries and regions. Insight into these mechanisms is a great asset on the job market.
The Master’s Program in Entrepreneurship and Strategy Economics combines theory and practice so that students develop practical, analytical, and research skills as well as the academic knowledge that today's change makers use to rejuvenate their organizations or to start a new one.
The Master’s Program is different from other programs in three main aspects:
1. The program recognizes that the world and the economy are constantly changing. This implies that entrepreneurship and innovation are imperative for modern economies and for the strategies that will make people, firms or industries successful;
2. The program focuses on how people, firms and policy makers can benefit from and initiate such changes;
3. The program teaches students the analytical tools that are necessary for making the right decisions in this highly dynamic environment. This includes a good knowledge of relevant economic theories as well as skills for carrying out independent empirical research.
As a result, students acquire competences that are broadly applicable in different sectors of the economy, different types of jobs, and different environments. This opens up many exciting career opportunities for our students. Many of our alumni are working in leading consulting companies, or hold general management positions in large international enterprises or smaller, specialized firms. Others have started their own companies, work for the government, or European institutions, while others have continued with a PhD and a career in research.
