Econometric Faculty Association Rotterdam (ED)
The Econometric Study Association Rotterdam (Econometrisch Dispuut in Dutch, ED for short) is the faculty association for aspiring econometricians at Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). Our mission is to enrich the student experience of all econometricians, in the broadest sense of the word. As the ED, we strive to fulfil this ambition by organizing the largest and most diverse portfolio of projects and events available to students Econometrics in the Netherlands. This has not been without success: since our foundation in 1966 we have been an ever growing association, with more members and projects every year. We offer plenty of varying projects ranging from social - to career - to study-related events.
A few examples of successful events are the Quantitative Finance Project (a week of visiting prestigious investments banks in London), the International Research Project (SPED, with previous locations including Brazil, China, Canada, South-Korea and many more) and Find Your Match (a corporate 'speed-date'-event with recruiters of various companies). Furthermore the ED is one of the co-organizers of the annual National Econometrician's Day. At a social level the ED offers you the chance to socialize with other econometrics students during various social drinks, sport-tournaments, a prom and a city trip. To top it off, we organize plenty of company visits and are able to get you 15% discount off study-books.
Before the academic year starts, the ED organizes an introduction weekend (Penguin) for first-year students Econometrics and BSc2. This weekend takes place the 30th of August till the first of September. During this weekend there is ample opportunity to get to know your fellow students and various activities will be organized. Last but not least, drinks are to be had until the late hours.
Econometrics Introduction Weekend
The Econometrics introduction weekend is also part of the introduction for Econometrics and BSc2 students and therefore offers a great opportunity to get to know your fellow students in an informal environment and atmosphere before the start of the ESE Take-Off.
The Econometrics introduction weekend is all about having fun and getting to know those of whom you will spend the three following years of study with. During this weekend, ED also helps you to arrange your primary things after your arrival in The Netherlands, such as opening a bank account and the registration at the municipality. Furthermore, ED has planned different entertaining activities, which will make your introduction weekend an unforgettable experience.
