Students must show proficiency in the English language. Prospective students must demonstrate this by means of a certified, internet or computer based, Academic TOEFL or Academic IELTS Test Score Report, taken no longer than 2 years before application.

You are exempted from an English test if:

• You are a native English speaker and you have obtained your diploma in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
• English was your first language during your secondary school education for at least 2,5 years in one of the above mentioned countries.
• You have a Dutch VWO diploma and English was one of your exam subjects.
• You have a Dutch four year HBO diploma including an English language course.

Please note: The Examination Board makes the final decision on granting you an exemption for the English language test. The Erasmus School of Economics does not offer any preparatory English courses.

All of our MSc Programmes are taught from a strong quantitative approach.  For this reason a solid background in mathematics and statistics is a necessity. Mathematics and statistics are strong supportive subjects which are needed throughout every master specialisation the Erasmus School of Economics offers.

Prospective students of our Master programmes need to have obtained a relevant bachelor's degree in economics and/or business.

The Erasmus School of Economics offers several specialisations which require a different educational background. The information below will give you an insight into the subjects which are necessary to participate in the offered specialisations. Please note that the subjects listed below only give an indication. The Examination Board will make the decision whether you are admissible to the Master's programme of your choice.

Accounting, Auditing and Control
The MSc in Accounting, Auditing and Control is intended for students who aim for academic employment in the auditing and/or controlling branch in organisations primarily operating internationally. A relevant Bachelor’s degree must show sufficient skills in at least the following subjects:

Economics and Business
This MSc consists of specialisations that focus on one of the main sub-disciplines within the field of Economics: finance, marketing, organization, economic policy, etc. Therefore the Erasmus School of Economics requires an educational background containing enough knowledge on microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, accounting, statistics and mathematics.

Your previous education is compared to our 3-year Bachelor in Economics and valued through the modules offered by the Nuffic.  Based on these modules, there's a distinct possibility - especially for candidates from non-EU countries - that a relevant Bachelor's degree (with sufficient knowledge in Economics and Mathematics/Statistics) is still not sufficient to enter our MSc Programmes.

In this case, candidates have to account with the fact that this will either result in a denial or the possible offer of our Pre-Master Programme. In any case, the Examination Board carefully reviews each individual file for admission.  Due to the many factors involved in the Admission decision-making process, the Examination Board does not elaborate on their motivations for the outcome of the decision.
