Courses from outside the ESE
In addition, it is possible to introduce one or more courses from other faculties/universities (also courses from universities abroad) as (an) elective(s). You need to meet the following requirements if you want to bring in courses from outside the ESE:
- courses should have been attended at HBO or university level;
- HBO propedeuse courses cannot be included;
- the knowledge, insight and skills that you have learned from the course should have been assessed with a grade;
- the study load for this course has to be expressed in whole ECTS credits or converted into whole ECTS credits.
For more information about studying abroad, please take a look at the website.
Procedure
You should register as an elective student at the faculty or university which offers the course you want to take. Faculties or Universities might ask you to hand in a statement of approval of the Examination Board ESE. You can request the examination board to write you a statement.
As soon as you have finished a course outside the ESE, you should write a request to the examination board to bring in this course into your elective space. This request should be supported with an academic transcript or certificate. In case of foreign courses, you should convert the student workload to ECTS credits. More information can be found on the website of the examination board.
Internship
Students can fill their elective space by completing an internship. The internship has a maximum studyload of 12 credits. For all information about internships, take a look at the website.
Exemption from the elective space
You can request an exemption from the elective space if:
- You have a HBO bachelor's diploma or a university bachelor's or master's diploma of antoher faculty/university;
- Official registered Mr.drs.-students who have finished their bachelor-1 of the bachelor Law (hand in one request together with exemption from the minor and major courses).
You can request an exemption via the examination board.
