Official regulations
All regulations regarding examinations have been laid down in the Teaching and Education Regulations of the various programmes and the Rules and Regulations of the Examination Board ESE.
Important items are:
- A marking period of 3 weeks applies to written examinations and seminars, provided that the result of an examination is known one week before the re-examination of this examination at the latest.
- The grades of tutorial tests or assignments are published before the written examination.
- In case of oral examinations the result is established immediately following the examinations.
- An examination has a satisfactory result if a grade 5.5 or higher is obtained. In some cases compensation of a five (a grade higher than or equal to 4.5 and lower than 5.5) is possible.
- Retaking examinations is possible: the highest result obtained counts.
- In principle examinations that are passed have a limited term of validity. More information can be found here.
N.B. examinations of bachelor-1 and bachelor-2 courses with obligatory participation in the practicals lose their validity if the obligation to participate has not been met. - Under certain circumstances the student is entitled to a subsequent discussion and inspection of a written examination.
