NIG Editing Grants

To encourage NIG members to publish their research findings in international journals and books, NIG has created the Editing Grants. Per year, 15 grants are available to NIG members of maximum 1000,- euro each. At least half of these grants are meant for young researchers, i.e. PhD.students.

Applicants can use these grants for professional editing of their manuscripts, which are written in another language than their own. The applicant will have to provide information about the publication opportunities for the manuscript at hand, e.g. to which journal it will be submitted or in which special issue or which book the manuscript will be published.

An application has to include the following information:

  • name, (work)address and function of the application, including the name of the university
  • a brief description of the manuscript and the publication possibilities
  • a budget proposal, based on professional fees for editing (estimate)

Applicants can use the attached form.

The number of grants is limited to 15 per annum, but there are no deadlines for submission.
Applications of Ph.D.students are especially welcomed. Note that the editing grant is NOT for a Ph.D. thesis.
Only actual costs are reimbursed, afterwards and on the basis of a receipt or bank statement.
After publication the NIG would like to receive a copy of the article or book (chapter) that was edited using our grant.
