Travel grants for Ph.D. Students NIG has travel grants for PhD.students who are a member of the research school. Applicants can obtain a travel grant of maximum 3000,- euros during their Ph.D. research at one of the member institutes of NIG.
The travel grant can be used for a journey abroad to attend a conference or summerschool, do an internship or pursue some other activity which is immediately related to the PhD.research of the applicant.
An application for a travel grant has to be submitted to NIG Office PRIOR to the journey and has to contain the following information: - name, address and the university where the applicant works
- the purpose of the journey (place and activities)
- name, place and date of the activity (e.g. conference, summerschool) including corroboration of your participation (invitation, confirmation) and a short description of your input (e.g. abstract or description of a programme)

The NIG directors will decide on your application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
The travel grant is meant only for expenses made for a journey, the accomodation during the stay (e.g. hotel) and registration or tuition fees. Other expenses (like food, drink, books, etc.) will not be reimbursed.
Only actual spendings are reimbursed to the applicant, afterwards and upon submission of receipts (tickets, bank statements, etc.).
