Roel van Raak has done a mixed B.Sc/M.Sc. program on governance and engineering (mainly environmental and water management) subjects) at Delft University. He has also worked at this university and UNESCO-IHE before he joined DRIFT in February 2005. Roel’s Ph.D. focuses on the management side of transitions and more in particular on the role of front-runner groups in transitions and how these groups can improve themselves and be better facilitated. He aims to develop both a better scientific insight as well as practical guidelines. His cases are in water, health care and other societal sectors. Besides Ph.D. research, he also works as consultant, most prominently (?) on the European NeWater project.
