Bas Hengstmengel MSc MA LLM

Bas D. Hengstmengel (1979) is born in Rotterdam. He obtained a MSc-degree in Psychology at Leiden University (2002), a LLM-degree in Dutch Law and Legal Philosophy at Leiden University (2005), and a MA-degree in Philosophy at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (2010).

Bas is working at the Faculty of Philosophy as a guest-researcher and teacher for about one day a week. The other days of the week he is working as an entrepreneur. In his spare time he is preparing a PhD thesis in the field of legal philosophy.

Bas lectured courses in Sociology of Law, Labour Law, and Law & Religion at the Erasmus School of Law and courses on Christian philosophy, Justice and Altruism, and Reformed Epistemology at the Faculty of Philosophy. His current research project at the Faculty of Philosophy is the elaboration of his masterthesis as a book (title of the thesis was: Herman Dooyeweerd and Alvin Plantinga: Philosophy and Rationality in the Reformed Tradition). The project is supported financially by the Association for Christian Philosophy.

Bas is editor-in-chief of Radix, a multidisciplinary quarterly journal on science and religion.
