Thesis title
The Moral Trial: On Ethics and Economics

Supervisors
Deirdre McCloskey and Jack Vromen

Project description
Economics considers people as rational and selfish economic men. Critiques of such approach are countless. Through a critical assessment of homo economicus (his realisticness and his morality) based on experimental findings, I expect to uncover the ethics of economics both as an institutions and as a social theory. Therefore this project deals with: (i.) The ethics of the practitioners of economics; (ii.) the way economics conceives of men; and (iii.) the way economics suggests social relationships are and should be organized.

About EIPE

Although researchers with a serious interest in economic methodology are scattered around the world, there is only one Ph.D. program in the field, at Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Not surprisingly, this institute has attracted an outstanding faculty; and it regularly hosts as visitors all the leading figures in the field. It is a very special place which I regularly recommend to students interested in graduate studies in economic methodology.
