Master in Arts and Culture Studies
Specialisation Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship
This programme emphasises the economic aspects of art and culture and explores the world of cultural entrepreneurship. We examine the interplay between supply and demand in the arts, and scrutinize the fast growing cultural industries. A myriad of topics are discussed in different courses and seminars: How does the labour market for artists function? What determines the often high prices of works of art at auctions, and how is the price negotiated in an art gallery? What roles are played by funding, subsidies, copyright and intellectual property rights in the constantly changing world of art and culture? You will discover through classes and your own research that the cultural sector has its own dynamic, and you will acquire the knowledge and skills to make your own substantive contribution to the academic debate.
