Curriculum International Bachelor Communication and Media
As a student of the International Bachelor’s in Communication and Media, you examine the myriad forms of communication and their pervasive influence on how people and organizations think and act in different contexts. You pay in-depth attention to the cross-cultural, international and global dimensions of communication processes, while you also study media systems and institutions and their interconnectedness with social, political, economic and cultural life in different parts of the world.
The first year of the programme introduces you to the major strains of communication and media scholarship and offers you an intensive practical training in communication and research skills. In your second year, you choose two areas of concentration, which theoretically and thematically build on the theoretical and methodological core courses offered in the first part of your studies. The programme features six concentration areas :
- Communication and Business
- Communication and Politics
- Communication, Culture and Society
- Media and Entertainment
- International and Global Communication
- New Media Technologies.
In your third year you have the option to spend a study period abroad at one of our partner universities or to take a minor in another field of study at Erasmus University.
The internship that is scheduled in the second semester of the third year enables you to make practical applications of your academic knowledge and skills and to connect your coursework with the professional world.
You conclude the programme by writing a Bachelor thesis in one of your chosen areas of concentration
