The MSc programme combines one year in Indonesia on urban and regional planning with one year on urban management and development at IHS. It offers two accredited master diplomas in two years.
This programme offers Indonesian professionals seeking a deeper understanding of the powers at work in cities, a practical focus and worldwide experience connected with international urban research. The combination of the first year of Indonesian practise and case study with the second year in an international environment is enlightening as participants will be able to place their own working experience in a wider context. The two years are interwoven as teachers visit the campus in Indonesia often.It provides a unique opportunity for students to grasp what they need to know to become innovative urban managers.
The first year of the programme takes place at Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM) in Jogyakarta, the second year will be spent at IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam.

By the end of the programme participants will become innovative urban and regional planners:
- technically capable to formulate planning documents in a multidisciplinary process
- substantially capable to manage the implementation of plans within the context of specific social, environmental and political settings.

The double degree programme is designed for urban planners in Indonesia: local and regional government officials from Bappenas, Dinas Teknis and Planning units of Departments, central government staff, as well as planners in the private sector.
Admission criteria Master in Urban and Regional Planning and Management in Indonesia
• A bachelor's degree from a recognised university or similar institute in a related field.
• Evidence of a sufficient oral and written command of the English language.
• Working experience in relevant fields is preferred.
• Intercultural skills
