Publish or Perish book & software
Part of the Erasmus Impact pilot project is to make researchers aware of the value of different tools that are available for impact measurement. One of the more interesting available tools at this moment is the Publish or Perish tool (PoP), developed by prof. Anne-Wil Harzing. The tool is a valuable help in the dialogue on impact of research, both at the individual level as well as at the level of journals, schools and fields. Especially in the dynamic world of Google Scholar, PoP allows you to create a memory of your impact track over time. This can be helpful as evidence towards your colleagues and management in proving your impact in a systematic way.
Publish or Perish is designed to help you as individual academic to present your case for research impact to its best advantage. It's a software program that retrieves and analyzes academic citations. It uses Google Scholar to obtain raw citations, then analyzes these and presents several statistics in a variety of output styles.
The EUR would like to offer you the book as a present to launch our joint journey towards systematic impact monitoring and measurement. This edition is prepared in collaboration with the University Library of the EUR.
