On the 24th of May Master City Developer a Dutch post-experience Master program of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Delft University of Technology and the Urban Development Department of the City of Rotterdam, will organize an open lecture for professionals employed at Dutch provinces. The lecture will take place on Erasmus University Rotterdam's Woudestein Campus and is free of charge.

On the 12th of March Jasper Spruit (Schiphol Group) and Remco van Staayeren (Locon Benelux), both alumni of the Urban, Port and Transport Economics program, guest lectured in the bachelor-3 Seminar Regional and Transport Economics which is organized by the department for Applied Economics and RHV.  Through these lectures, students are challenged to find solutions to real problems.

Giuliano Mingardo, transport economist at RHV, addressed real estate developers, retailers and policy makers involved in the Valparaiso project in Stockholm (Sweden) on March, 11th.

On the 6th of March Pascal van Beek, managing director of the UC Group and alumnus of the Urban, Port and Transport Economics program guest lectured on location factors for distribution centers. His lecture is part of the bachelor-3 Seminar Regional and Transport Economics which is organized by the department for Applied Economics and RHV. 

Erik Braun was one of the five jurors judging the nominees in the Dutch Placemarketing Network awards for distinctive place marketing initiatives. The awards were handed out at the 'Place Marketing Day 2013'.

Giuliano Mingardo, transport economist at RHV, the department for Urban, Port and Transport Economics, lectured at the 'minisymposium Parkeerbeleid' of KpVV on the 17th of januari 2013 in Utrecht (the Netherlands).

Alumni of the Master Specialisation Urban Port and Transport Economics will guest lecture in the bachelor-3 course Regional and Transport Economics. They will discuss actual problems they encounter in their daily work with the students. The students will then study these issues in the seminar. 

On Thursday 24 January 2013 Luís Carvalho will defend his PhD thesis entitled 'Knowledge Locations in Cities: Emergence and Development Dynamics'. Supervisor is Professor Leo van den Berg. Other members of the Doctoral Committee are Professor Jan van den Borg, Professor Meine Pieter van Dijk, and Professor Bert van der Knaap.

The INVOLVE project has now been running for almost a year and has yielded interesting results. Next to the exchange of experience activities (Study Visits), the partners have also carried out the first cycle of Regional Promotion. These are specifically meant for regional key decisionmakers, to disseminate the good practices identified in the project.

From January 21st RHV will occupy the 16th floor of the H-building of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Staff will retain their current phone numbers and e-mail addresses, but the postal address will change.
