Data management / Erasmus Data Service Centre (EDSC)
Data sets are used in various ways in education and research at the EUR and the Erasmus MC. Good management of these data sets is very important.
The University Library shall contribute in two ways:
- By storing, managing and indexing data sets contributing to the scientific output of the EUR within the framework of electronic publishing.
- By expanding the services of the Erasmus Data Service Centre (EDSC). The EDSC provides access to external data collections and supports students and staff in the use of these data collections. Support is provided by intermediaries who, on request, translate the requests for data into database-specific search profiles in order to extract data from the databases and deliver the results to the researcher in the required format.
At the moment, the EDSC is concentrating its efforts on financial data. The plan is to expand the work terrain of the EDSC to cover social sciences data as well, in collaboration with DANS and the CBS.
