E-learning / EURlib

The rapid development of e-learning in recent years has inspired the University Library to be innovative in the terrain of ICT & Education. New services are being developed:

  • A new working method for the University Library’s information skills training courses leading to tailored introductions for teachers and students. Subject librarians and information intermediaries at the University Library are giving shape to this renewed service.
  • The Erasmus Learning Object Repository (ELOR), the library’s new, university-wide repository for the content management of teaching materials. ELOR has been brought under by RePub, the library’s centre for e-publishing and repositories.
  • Semantic functionality based on Collexis software has been added to the ELE, PsyWeb, for the psychology course. The Sector Documentary information of the University Library continues to support this innovative endeavour.
  • Improved access to the digital library for all faculties by means of discipline-related portals, aimed especially at first and second year students. Subject librarians and information intermediaries at the University Library keep the new portals up-to-date in collaboration with teaching staff at the faculties.
  • The theme and resources website ‘Vrijheid & Rede’ for the support of education within the Faculty of History and Arts . This educational tool, based on ELOR, is used by first and second year history students. It is maintained by the Faculty of History and Arts.
  • The ‘Semantic Fingerprint Pilot’. This project for the benefit of education for PhD students is now integrated into the innovation programme of the ERIM. The initial investment in Collexis software and programing work, from EURlib funds, has been turned over for regular financing to the RSM Erasmus University. University Library staff remain involved in futher development activities.
