Internet in the University Library
You can access the Internet and all electronic resources (like e-journals, e-books and databases) with one of the PC's in the UL and an ERNA account or walk-in user account. You may also use wireless Internet with your own laptop.
Wireless internet
EUR offers wireless Internet access virtually all over campus. You may access the Internet and the UL's databases through the EUR's network with your laptop or other portable computer in the UL as well. The UL also has Plugin HotspOts where you can connect your laptop to the EUR network using a cable. The plug-in work stations are located in the Tinbergen room around the open space. A cable may be borrowed from the information desk if necessary.
Wireless Internet for EUR students and staff:
You can log on to two networks as a student/staff member of EUR, namely:
- Eduroam: security-enabled connection.
- EURnet-portal: unsecured connection.
Wireless Internet for students and staff of other educational institutions:
Log in on EUR's 'Eduroam' network. Use the username and password from your own institution for this.
Participating educational institutions are part of the Eduroam project. Most universities and colleges in the Netherlands and many European educational institutions participate.
Wireless Internet for EUR students and staff at another educational institution:
EUR students and staff with a laptop at another educational institution (that is part of the Eduroam project) can access the network of the guest institution using their own ERNA accounts.
Connecting to your own network as a student/staff member from another educational institution:
Log in to the 'Guest' network. Then make a VPN connection with your own institution. The prerequisite is that your educational institution must participate in the Eduroam project.
Internet for third parties: walk-in user account
Visitors who are not part of EUR's academic community can consult the databases for a day with a walk-in user account. You can request this account from the information desk in the UL. You must show valid ID and a recent proof of address. If you already have a valid UL library card, the proof of address is not necessary.
You must agree to the following rules in writing:
- You will consult the databases of the UL exclusively for personal study or research, and you will not use the information acquired thereby for commercial purposes;
- If the UL should sustain damage, in any form, as a result of improper use (as intended above), a procedure for compensation may be initiated, and further access to the EUR network may be denied.
These conditions are based on the licensing conditions of the databases being made accessible to you.
