Reading rooms
The library's five reading rooms have 700 study places, 188 of them equipped with PCs. Here you can study and consult the reading collections. These reading collections are housed in four rooms:
Mees: current periodicals, general / general reference / language lab
Langeveld: current periodicals, subject specific: Law / Public Administration / Political Science / European Documentation Centre (EDC)
Tinbergen: Economics / Business Administration / Social Sciences / Psychology / Art History / History / Philosophy / Health Policy and Management
Posthumus: Psychology / Sociology / Pedagogical and Educational Sciences study sections
These collections contain the following types of publications:
- reference works such as encyclopaedias, dictionaries, biographies
- dictionaries, bibliographies, atlases and directories
- recommended and set texts
- readers and syllabi
- law books and jurisprudence
- statistical publications
Materials in the reading rooms are not for loan;however, photocopying facilities are available.
Thera are also three study sections: Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogical and Educational Sciences. The study places in this areas are reserved for students of these studies only. The study sections contain the required literature for the courses arranged by study module. The Psychology section contains the material for the first two years in twentyfold, for Sociology in tenfold and for Pedagogical and Educational Sciences in fifteenfold.
The publications in the reading rooms are arranged by subject, according to a number-based subject classification. Overviews of the subjects are displayed on the bookcases. Find out more about the classification system. The subject classification in the reading rooms makes browsing easy; however, if you want to locate a specific title quickly, consult the Library catalogue.
Some of the 188 PC-equipped study places are in Hatta. The language lab is located in Mees.
